While driving to church today, Katy says, "Let's just turn around and go home, Mom!"
I replied, "Katy, we have to go to church."
Katy questions, "Why?"
I say, "So we can know more about Jesus!"
With that said, Katy answers very matter-of-factly, "I already know about Jesus."
It was very funny! So I decided to inqure further. "What do you know about Jesus?"
"One day we will live with Him in Heaven."
"Do you know anything else?"
"Well, He died on the cross for our sins."
"And He rose from the dead," I said.
"And He lives in a house," Katy stated. (With that said, Rob and I started to laugh. It was so cute! Kids perceive things so differently than adults. I loved this comment!!!)
"No, He lives in Heaven," I said.
Katy asks, "I thought He lived down here with us?.?."
Then I replied, "Well He lives in our heart when we ask Him to."
She didn't reply to that, but she looked like she was really pondering what I said. We have been discussing why we need Jesus and what it means to ask Him to live in our hearts. She knows that He is our Savior and that He died for our sins and she knows what her sins are, but doesn't quite understand why our sins seperate us from God.
I love watching her learn about God! It's so amazing that He blesses us with such a great responsibility as bringing up Godly children. I know I fall short so many times, but then there are glimpses like this that reassure me that I might be doing something right.
Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.
